Overall, the Companion is a good guide to the Grey Griffins books and does a great job of putting information from six books into one. However, it's mostly just that information pulled from the books and compiled together with the occasional tidbit of new knowledge. Of course, my opinion is probably biased by the fact that I've read the Grey Griffins books so many times that I know them forwards and backwards and even the cursory mention of, oh, say, an optic lamprey sticks in my mind. In short some people do not memorize facts the way I do and will probably find this book really helpful and convenient.
But, let's talk about the new information in the Companion, shall we?
Natalia and Ernie's commentary is awesome to see. Readers of the Grey Griffins series are used to seeing the world from Max's perspective. We KNOW how Max feels about everything, but Natalia and Ernie? Not as much. Not to mention, Natalia and Ernie like to argue and tease each other like an old married couple and that's all very fun to see. We also learn *spoiler alert?* that Athena and Raven are not the only girls Ernie has a crush on; it's pretty much everybody. Someone get that boy a girlfriend, stat.
The drawings were nice to see, especially the one of Cain Lundgren. If you've diligently scoured the internet for any and all things Grey Griffins, you've seen a couple of the sketches before, but most of them are new and entertaining (Grownup Agent Thunderbolt, anybody?).
The Most Valuable Section Award goes to the section of Templar Society (also the other schools). Lots of clarification and new information here.
The section that could have been better? The characters. We learned some new information about some characters, but for other characters, you can find out more from the books.
The promise of more companions to come suggests that while this first installment is mostly known information, future installments will elaborate further on the wonderful and interesting world of the Grey Griffins.

It was an amazing book, helped me understand a lot! Really helped you get all the characters and things straight.
